Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of deliberately planting moles within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State to create internal divisions for political gain.
The governor made this claim during a visit from the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) on Wednesday.
The visit came just a day after the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) met with the governor, who also serves as the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.

Mohammed voiced concerns about the ongoing rift within the Rivers State PDP, which has seen a power struggle between the incumbent governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under the APC-led government.
Addressing the situation, Mohammed stated, “We have to close ranks. It is something baffling to some of us, but any challenge can be overcome. By the grace of God, we will find a solution to it, and that is why there is a problem.
It is only the PDP, with its governance experience, that is being challenged.”
The governor further alleged that the APC has been engineering the crisis. “This is the creation of the other side (APC). They want us to be in disarray.
The crisis is their doing. They always want to have moles within us and gather intelligence on our internal affairs,” he said.
Mohammed also commented on Wike’s dual roles in both parties. “You can see that even Wike, who is in both the APC and the PDP, is performing well.
The APC lacks people who can deliver like our members, which is why they picked him and gave him a structure similar to that of a state to run. To us, that is commendable,” he remarked.
However, the governor assured that efforts were being made to unify the party.
“We cannot compromise the peace and unity of our great party,” Mohammed said, highlighting the importance of resolving internal disputes.
In response, BoT Chairman Senator Adolphus Wabara praised Governor Mohammed for his efforts in addressing the crisis and pledged the BoT’s support.
Wabara also revealed plans to engage with the two factions in Rivers State through separate meetings to find a resolution.
Expressing disappointment over the challenges facing the PDP, particularly in Rivers State, Wabara said, “We are not happy with what is happening in the party, and I think Nigerians are also not happy with the situation, especially the leadership crisis in Rivers State.”
The BoT’s intervention aims to restore unity within the party as the internal conflicts continue to impact its operations and public perception.
