Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the payment of N70,000 as the minimum wage for civil servants in the state, with implementation set to commence in December 2024.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the governor’s spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, and made available to journalists on Saturday.
According to the statement, the approval followed recommendations by the state’s Committee on Minimum Wage.

“The committee had recommended a reconciliation of local government finances to ensure a smooth transition for local government councils from the existing salary structure to the new minimum wage,” the statement read.
It added that the reconciliation process, which is nearing completion, will soon be finalized to enable the enrolment of local government employees into the new wage structure.
The governor urged civil servants to reciprocate the gesture by delivering effective and efficient services to the state.
