Gombe State’s governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has issued a statewide ban on nightclubs (also known as “Gala Houses”), effective immediately.
The governor has ordered all security departments to enforce this directive.
Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Secretary to the State Government, made the news in a statement released on Monday.

Njodi claims that this action was prompted by public outcry about the nightclub industry’s alleged failure to adequately prevent and punish illegal behaviour.
According to him, the order called on the Nigeria Police, the Nigeria Civil Defence Corps, and Operation Hattara to promptly deploy their personnel to carry out the command and ensure its strict compliance.
Gala Houses such as Jami’a Gidan Wanka on Yola Road (Mile 3), White House Theatre (Babban Gida) on New Yola Road (Mile 3), Gidan Lokaci General Merchant on Reservoir Road (Mile 3), and Farin Gida Entertainment II on Wuro Karal (Mile 3) Kalshingi Road (Mile 3) in Gombe (Mile 3) are among those that have been damaged.
