Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has dismissed rumours suggesting he plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting he remains firmly committed to the party.
Mbah made the clarification on Saturday during an interactive session with members of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) in Enugu.
“I am still in the PDP. As you can see, the flag behind me is that of the PDP,” he said, reaffirming his loyalty to the party despite its internal challenges.

Acknowledging the issues facing the PDP, Mbah expressed confidence that the party would resolve its internal disputes, emphasising that the PDP is not the only political platform experiencing difficulties.
Commenting on the idea of independent candidacy, the governor noted that Nigeria’s constitution does not provide for individuals to contest elections outside the party system.
“You must still do the politics — you can’t completely shield yourself from it,” he said.
He added that his administration remains focused on delivering good governance, stressing that the people of Enugu State will ultimately decide whether to renew his mandate or vote for change.
Governor Mbah also disclosed that his political rival in the 2023 gubernatorial election, Mr. Chijioke Edeoga, has returned to the PDP to work with him in advancing the state’s development.
