On Thursday, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang expressed his sorrow over a violent attack in the Heipang town of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area.
He also harshly criticized the recent attacks in which additional lives were lost in a number of villages in the Mangu Local Government Area.
In a similar vein, the Governor pleaded with the security forces to step up their efforts and cease the senseless killings of civilians in the rural areas of Mangu and Barkin-Ladi LGAs.

The Governor issued a call for calm and advised residents to use the state-wide security and information hub the administration has set up in order to gather information for rapid response.
At around 1am on Thursday morning, Infostride News learned that 21 persons had been ruthlessly slain by unknown gunmen in the communities; additionally, a few days before, 5 members of Ncha community in Mangu LGA had been killed by unknown gunmen.
As part of his condemnation of the incidents, Governor Mutfwang made this information public through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Gyang Bere.
He used the word “unfortunate” to describe the worsening security in several areas of the state.
To stop such assaults, “we call for greater collaboration between community leaders and security agencies,” he insisted.
For the sake of the state’s progress and prosperity, Mutfwang emphasized the need for harmony and cooperation among all citizens, regardless of their religious or racial backgrounds.
The Governor offered his sympathies to the towns and families who had lost loved ones, and he promised that the government would do what it could to fix the problems.
His words, “I want to urge the citizenry to make use of the security and information centre activated by the state government to communicate security information for prompt intervention,” were a source of solace for the bereaved people of Heipang and Mangu.
