Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has taken swift action by suspending the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Physical Planning, Noble Atulegwu, along with his Special Adviser and General Manager of Imo State Housing Corporation, Mbakwe Obi.
The suspension, effective immediately, was announced through a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Cosmos Iwu.
The statement issued by Iwu reads: “The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has approved the immediate suspension from the office of the Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Physical Planning, Noble Atulegwu.

His Excellency has similarly approved the immediate suspension from office of the SA/GM Imo Housing Corporation, Mbakwe Obi.”
While the statement did not specify the reasons for the suspensions, it is noted that Atulegwu had faced challenges with several communities in Owerri, the state capital, with accusations of encroachment on lands belonging to families and communities.
Some individuals had resorted to legal action to contest Atulegwu’s alleged actions and policies. The timing of the suspensions, occurring shortly after Gov Uzodinma’s re-election for a second term, adds a notable political dimension to the development.
