The leadership of the Concerned Citizens of Taraba State has voiced their discontent with the candidate lists that were selected to represent the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the upcoming elections for local government councils.
These candidates would serve as flag bearers for the PDP.
It should be recalled that the party had issued an instruction to stakeholders located around the state to submit a list of consensus candidates who would compete in the council elections that are scheduled to take place on the 18th of this month.

These candidates would be running for posts including chairmen and councillors.
Concerned by the turn of events, the organization issued a statement on Tuesday that was made accessible to journalists based in the state. In it, they demanded that the governor conduct an immediate review of the list of consensus candidates that had been sent to him.
The organization, which had advocated that the candidates ought to be people resident in the council who were accessible to the people, asserted that the opposite has turned out to be the case instead of what they had proposed.
The organization claimed in a statement that such a candidate ought to be acceptable by the youths, seniors, and women, as well as the party stakeholders and the traditional institution. The statement was signed by the coordinator of the group, Abdullahi Ishaya Dominic.
According to the statement, the candidates who have been chosen to run in the upcoming election for the council do not satisfy the standards that should support their selection as consensus candidates.
Before the day of the election, the organization encouraged the governor to make sure that the correct person was in charge.
In addition to this, they demanded that the governor of the state make a public statement to the citizens of the state regarding the decisions made regarding the consensus candidates for the various local government districts.
