The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) estimates that 1,932,654 of Kogi State’s registered voters would cast ballots in the gubernatorial election scheduled for November 11.
At a presentation of the voter registration in Lokoja, Gabriel Longpet, the Kogi State Resident Electoral Commissioner, shared this information with the representatives of the various political parties.
Since the number of registered voters in each Local Government Area is important information for political parties, Longpet characterized INEC’s presentation of the Voter Register as a crucial step before the Governorship election on November 11.

He claimed that numerous steps had been taken by INEC to guarantee a problem-free governor’s race in November.
Professor Sani Adam, INEC’s National Commissioner in charge of Kogi, Kwara, and Niger, made the opening remarks and mentioned that technical supporters had been trained and will be deployed during the poll.
Professor Sani urged voters to go to the polls in large numbers, saying that INEC would do its best to ensure a free, fair, and credible election in which every vote counted, and that voters would be free to cast their ballots for whoever they wanted.
He also said the commission would coordinate with law enforcement to keep crowded polling places safe.
While assuring INEC that the political parties would be willing to work with them for a smooth election, IPAC Chairman Mr. Yusuf Sani urged them to rein in their Ad hoc workers so that voters wouldn’t have to wait around for too long on election day.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, October 14, 2023, mock accreditation of voters will take place across the state.
