Hosts Equatorial Guinea are currently in Portugal for a training camp ahead of the 2015 Orange Africa Cup of Nations scheduled from 17 January to 8 February.
Nzalang Nacional flew to Lisbon on Thursday, 18 December 2014 and will remain there till 15 January next year.
Fifteen (15) locally-based players made the trip to Portugal and will be joined by the foreign-based later to wrap up preparations for their second appearance at the biennial championship.
Meanwhile, president of the Equatorial Guinea Football Federation, Domingo Mituy Edjang has rubbished reports that head coach Andoni Goikoetxea will be replaced by either Nigerian Stephen Keshi or former Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac for the final tournament of the 30th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
“We cannot replace a coach within one month of the Africa Cup of Nations. We have a contract with the current coach (Andoni Goikoetxea) which ends on December 31, but will be extended till the end of the Africa Cup of Nations,” Edjand told Cafonline.com.
The hosts are drawn in Group A with regional rivals Congo, Gabon and Burkina Faso.
Nzalang Nacional will face the Red Devils of Congo in the opening match of the tournament on 17 January 2015; play ‘Les Etalons’ of Burkina Faso four days later before wrapping up against neighbours ‘Les Pantheres’ of Gabon on 25 January 2015, all at the Estadio de Bata in Bata.
