Popular Nigerian singer, Seyi Shay, has come out to say that some of the hymns we sing in church might be doing more harm than good. She recently had her say via her social media page, and fans have been reacting.
According to her, she stopped attending her former church because they were forced to focus on singing only hymns, and told to avoid singing contemporary gospel songs.

The singer added that she cannot be compelled to sing hymns because they were originally written by slave masters and forced on enslaved Africans during torture and dehumanisation.

Her words, “I stopped going to that church. PERIODT. Makes no sense. Do your research! Ignorance is NOT Godly!.
In some cases, you’re better off making up your own praise and worship songs based on scripture if you prefer.”
WOW.
