Popular country music star Megan Moroney has said that she once cut her vacation short to perform alongside Ed Sheeran. She recently revealed that one phone call from Ed was enough for her to change her travel plans.
Speaking to PEOPLE, Moroney shared how the pop star called to ask her to play the Bluebird Cafe with him in Nashville, a request she thought was a joke at the time.
According to her, while she was supposed to go on vacation that weekend, she ended up cancelling the trip because she could not pass up on the crucial opportunity.
“He wanted me to play the Bluebird Cafe with him in Nashville, and I thought it was a joke.
I ended up canceling the vacation, because I’m like, ‘When Ed Sheeran calls and wants you to play a show with him, you drop everything,'” she said.
The “6 Months Later” crooner further noted that she left the gig an even bigger fan of Ed Sheeran.
Moroney concluded by saying that she intends to collaborate with the “Thinking Out Loud” singer at the right time.
“He’s just so down to earth, kind and talented, and he was talking to me about how his kids [Lyra Antarctica, 5, and Jupiter, 3] and his wife [Cherry Seaborn] are big fans [of mine].
We’d email each other and send each other songs back and forth, so it’s been really cool to get to know him a little bit. He’s just so talented.
It’s just really cool to see someone like him, a global superstar, still care about songwriters.
I think when the time is right and the song is right, it’ll happen, because I’m such a fan of his, and I’m sure his kids would appreciate us having a song together, but it’s just got to be the right song,” she added.
