Portugal captain, Cristiano Ronaldo has come out to say that he will not play if it means guaranteeing his country a win. He recently claimed to have had 50,000 bad games throughout his career, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, if he does not score and someone else does, it is all the same to him, so it does not matter if he is on the bench, as long as Portugal wins a football game.

Ronaldo added that he won’t always play well, but he’ll defend the country’s colours until the death.
His words, “If I don’t score and someone else scores, it’s all the same to me. If Portugal has to win and I don’t play, I’ll sign my name right now, tell the coach and I won’t play. I’ll defend these colours until the death.
We can’t always play well, things don’t work out sometimes. I’ve played 50 thousand bad games, and so have my team-mates. All of that is part of it, the past is the past, it’s about uniting the troops and being positive.”
