Earlier this year, the singer flew back to the New York Film Academy where he took an eight-week course on Screenwriting.
Banky W has since discussed his passion for storytelling.
“In the evolution of my career, I knew I was eventually going to get into moviemaking. I knew that I wanted to progress from being a musician to being a director of videos and TV commercials,” he said.
“I took the 8-week filmmaking class and I gained so much from it that I already immediately knew that I would come back for the screen writing class.
“We have a whole generation of young filmmakers in Nigeria now, young storytellers who are passionate, talented and are interested in telling their own stories,” he added.
Banky W made his feature film debut in the romantic comedy “The Wedding Party,” which was directed by the New York Film School alumna, Kemi Adetiba, and is currently the highest grossing Nollywood movie of all time.
Following his graduation from the New York Film Academy in 2014, the EME boss premiered his directorial debut titled “A Music Film Experience,” which consists of two music films and a music video.
