Barcelona forward, Raphinha has come out to share why he nearly quit the club after not feeling mentally comfortable. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he actually thought he would leave Barcelona after the Copa America, but Flick’s phonecall changed everything, and the aim was to make his manager want him at that point.

Raphinha added that he seriously considered leaving Barca at the time, but he was right to stay in the end.
His words, “I was thinking about leaving Barça after the Copa América, I wasn’t feeling mentally comfortable until Flick called me. Every day, there were rumours about me signing for one team or another. Things didn’t go as they should have; I had a worse season than expected, and I saw people asking me to leave while reports of my departure surfaced daily. I seriously considered leaving.
Flick called me and asked me to come to training before making a decision because he wanted to talk to me and counted on me.
That was a turning point in my decision to stay. I spoke with my wife and told her: If this man is fair and sees the effort I put into training, I’ll make him want me in a week, and he won’t regret it. And I think I was right.”
WOW.
Futbol Club Barcelona is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, that competes in La Liga, the top flight of Spanish football.
Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, Catalan, German, and English footballers led by Joan Gamper, the club has become a symbol of Catalan culture and Catalanism, hence the motto “Més que un club” (“More than a club”). Unlike many other football clubs, the supporters own and operate Barcelona. It is the third-most valuable sports team in the world, worth $5.51 billion, and the world’s fourth richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €582.1 million.
The official Barcelona anthem is the “Cant del Barça”, written by Jaume Picas and Josep Maria Espinàs. Barcelona traditionally play in dark shades of blue and garnet stripes, hence nicknamed Blaugrana.
In March 2021, Lionel Messi overtook Xavi’s record of 767 games played for the club, and presently has made 778 official appearances in all competitions, while also holding the record for the most appearances in La Liga matches for Barcelona, with 520.
