David Moyes has said he would be interested in replacing Bruce Arena as the United States national team coach if he was presented with the opportunity.
General manager Earnie Stewart said earlier this month that he hopes to have Arena’s replacement chosen by the end of the year but said he has not yet conducted any interviews.
Moyes, who managed Everton for parts of 13 seasons, has no international managerial experience but has also been considered a potential replacement for Alex McLeish with Scotland.
He replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United in 2013 but failed to last two full seasons before he was sacked. He lasted a year at Real Sociedad and could not avoid Sunderland’s Premier League relegation in 2016-17 before replacing Slaven Bilic at West Ham on a six-month contract in November.
