Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has come out to say that he wanted Scott McTominay to stay at the club. This is coming as the midfielder leaves Old Trafford for Napoli, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, even if he is happy the midfielder got his move this summer, he still has mixed feelings because he wanted Scott around for much longer.
Erik ten Hag added that the sale of homegrown players being more valuable in today’s market was the reason he had to be let go.
His words, “I’m very happy for him and for us, but it’s mixed [feelings] because I would have preferred not to lose him. He has Manchester United in his veins.
“He was so important for our team, he was at Manchester United for over 22 years. But unfortunately, it’s the rules. You have to discuss the rules to do sales and obviously homegrown players, academy players, bring more value. It’s not the right thing to do but for everyone, for all parts, it’s a good deal. For Scott, he is happy with it. Of course, for Napoli, a very good player but also for us.”

The club appeared in two consecutive League Cup finals in 1991 and 1992, beating Nottingham Forest 1–0 in the second to win that competition for the first time as well.
