Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has turned down a proposed peace deal that would see Ukraine officially concede Crimea to Russia in exchange for freezing the frontline of the ongoing war. Recall that Trump recently included the controversial term in a seven-point peace plan, and the world has been reacting.
According to Zelensky, agreeing to such a deal would directly violate Ukraine’s constitution, so there is absolutely nothing that will convince him to enter into such an agreement.

He added that Crimea remains Ukraine’s territory, and as soon as talks are entertained about it, negotiations will begin to enter the format Russia wants.
His words, “There is nothing to talk about. This violates our Constitution. Crimea is our territory—the territory of the people of Ukraine.
As soon as talks about Crimea and our sovereign territories begin, negotiations enter the format Russia wants—prolonging the war. Because it will be impossible to agree on everything quickly.
We know where these signals are coming from, and they will keep coming.”
WOW.
