Simon Ekpa, a separatist activist for the Biafra movement, has called on Nigerians of Igbo descent living in the Republic of Niger to “denounce” Nigeria and declare themselves “Biafrans” to protect themselves from the violence in their home country.
According to Infostride News, after the failed attempts of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, the Niger military junta cut ties with Nigeria.
Niger’s constitutional order was recently disrupted when, less than 24 hours after ECOWAS ordered its standby force to do so, the Nigerian embassy in Niamey was set on fire.

Ekpa responded on Twitter, writing, “BRGIE @BiafraRGIE BREAKING”
To prevent being assassinated, we demand that all Biafrans currently resident in the Niger Republic publicly repudiate Nigeria and begin introducing themselves as Biafrans.
