Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged residents of the state to remain calm as the State House of Assembly moves to impeach him.
The governor made the appeal on Sunday during a church service in Port Harcourt held to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Fubara reassured the congregation that the situation would be resolved, explaining that his silence amid the unfolding developments was deliberate and rooted in his faith in God.

According to him, his confidence and resilience are anchored on divine guidance rather than public reactions.
Referring to remarks he made during the New Year banquet at the Government House, the governor said that “dogs bark when they do not understand,” a comment widely interpreted as a response to critics amid the political tension.
Also speaking at the service, the Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, urged members of the public to conduct themselves responsibly.
She echoed the sermon of the Dean of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Blessing Eyinda, who reminded worshippers that every action would one day be remembered.
Odu further appealed to residents to continue praying for the state administration, describing such prayers as a critical source of strength as the government navigates the current challenges.
