All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has issued a stern warning, declaring that in four days, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, will face imprisonment for contempt of court.
National Chairman of APGA, Edozie Njoku, addressed journalists in Abuja on Friday, highlighting the court’s order instructing the recognition of Njoku as the National Chairman.
Njoku emphasized that the return to court on November 29, 2023, would mark the sentencing of INEC Chairman and others for failing to comply with the court’s directive.

He urged Nigerians to stand by the judiciary to protect it from individuals seeking to compromise justice and undermine its integrity.
Recalling the events leading up to this development, Njoku referred to the November 9, 2023, judgment by FCT High Court 40, in which Chief Victor Oye accused him of forging a Supreme Court judgment. Njoku alleged that Mahmood Yakubu and Oye, instead of complying with the court’s leniency, turned to the Appeal Court with the confidence of influencing the outcome in their favor.
Njoku expressed concern about the broader implications of INEC’s actions, signaling a disregard for competent court orders in Nigeria. He accused INEC, under Mahmood’s leadership, of attempting to demonstrate immunity to legal consequences.
He stated, “INEC led by Mahmood, simply wants to prove to the world that it has immunity.” As the tension between APGA and INEC escalates, the upcoming court date on November 29 holds the promise of significant legal ramifications for the INEC Chairman and the party’s leadership.
