The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its readiness to conduct a free, fair, and credible bye-election in Jigawa State on Saturday.
INEC National Commissioner in charge of Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa States, Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru, gave the assurance during a visit to the Jigawa State Police Headquarters in Dutse as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the Babura/Garki Federal Constituency poll.

Prof. Zuru commended the state Commissioner of Police and his management team for their efforts in ensuring a peaceful electoral atmosphere, stressing the importance of synergy among security agencies and other critical stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, pledged the command’s full commitment to safeguarding the process.
He assured that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, had deployed robust operational strategies to secure the election.
He urged political parties, candidates, and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully, warning that the police would not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone attempting to disrupt the electoral process.
CP Muhammad also called on residents of Babura and Garki Local Government Areas to come out en masse and exercise their civic responsibility without fear, assuring that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to guarantee their safety before, during, and after the election.
