The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Yunusa Hudu Ari, the dismissed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa State, over his recent comments on the 2023 governorship election.
In a press briefing held in Yola, IPAC Chairman in Adamawa State, Bello Babajo, condemned Ari’s statements, describing them as a deliberate attempt to undermine Nigeria’s judiciary and democratic processes.
He accused the former REC of making “deliberate and misleading” remarks and called for decisive action against individuals seeking to destabilize the electoral system.

Ari, in a widely publicized press briefing on February 10, had claimed that Senator Aishatu Binani, and not Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, was the rightful winner of the 2023 governorship election, despite the Supreme Court’s final ruling on the matter.
IPAC accused Ari of showing contempt for INEC and the judiciary, alleging that his statements were aimed at misleading the public and creating confusion about the election outcome.
Babajo further criticized Ari for attempting to manipulate the election results and evading justice.
“Instead of accepting the truth, Hudu Ari boldly displayed fabricated election results and insisted on pushing his misguided narrative,” Babajo said.
The council urged the Inspector General of Police to swiftly apprehend Ari and ensure he is held accountable for his actions, stressing the need to protect the sanctity of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
IPAC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the electoral process and ensuring that the will of the people is respected in all future elections.
