The Chairman of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), Charles Ejiogu, has announced that the Commission has successfully trained 15,000 ad-hoc staff in preparation for the upcoming local council elections scheduled for 21 September.
Speaking to journalists at the ISIEC headquarters, Ejiogu assured that the Commission is committed to conducting a free and fair election, ensuring a level playing field for all political parties participating in the polls.
The election is set to take place across all 305 wards and 4,758 polling units in the state.

Ejiogu reaffirmed the Commission’s resolve to deliver a credible and transparent election.
He assured the electorate, stakeholders, and candidates from various political parties that the election process would be impartial and in accordance with established guidelines.
In his address, the ISIEC Chairman disclosed that the voter register to be used for the election would be sourced from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The register, he said, would be displayed at each polling unit on election day, as a measure to ensure transparency.
“For security reasons, we will not paste the voter register until election day,” Ejiogu stated, underscoring the Commission’s efforts to maintain a secure voting environment.
He further revealed that nearly all the major political parties in the state have fielded candidates for the various elective positions, indicating strong participation in the forthcoming elections.
As the election date approaches, ISIEC’s preparations highlight its readiness to oversee a smooth electoral process, with a focus on fairness and inclusivity.
