On Wednesday, journalists were not allowed into the courthouse where a ruling on a petition filed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its candidate in the March 18 election was scheduled to be announced by the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal.
Infostride News recounts that APC’s Nasir Gawuna, who ran for governor in Kano, challenged the election results in court after his party’s nominee, Abba Yusuf of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), was proclaimed the victor by INEC.
The APC and its candidate have filed a plea with the court, and a ruling is expected today.

Some reporters, however, who had invaded the area in an attempt to cover the event, were turned away.
Commissioner of Police for the State of Kano Usaini Muhammed Gumel told Daily Trust that the court could only accommodate 50 individuals.
He claims, “Since yesterday, we called the tribunal Secretary to hear arrangements for the sitting,” and we were told that just 50 persons would be admitted.
In addition to the judges and lawyers for both sides, there will also be reporters and other members of the press present. So it wasn’t the police that set a cap on attendance.”
