Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has agreed to extend his contract until 2021, the club have confirmed.
Benzema joins Isco and Dani Carvajal in committing his long-term future to the Liga and Champions League winners.
The France international, who is 29, came into Madrid from Lyon for €35 million in 2009 and has won 14 trophies at the Bernabeu.
Reports in Spain say his net salary has been increased to more than €7.5 million a year and that the new arrangement includes a release clause of €1 billion.In recent years, Benzema has been linked with clubs such as
Arsenal and PSG but said recently: “As a forward, when you’re at a club and you’re a first-team regular, you don’t need to look elsewhere — especially when you’re at a club like Real Madrid.”
