Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has explained why he intends to join the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, saying the move is driven solely by the interest of his people.
Kefas made the remarks on Saturday in Jimeta, Adamawa State, during a cultural event organised by the Margi community, titled “Civic Reception: Unveiling of Margi National Attire.”

The gathering, aimed at promoting Margi heritage and launching a national attire, was attended by three PDP governors and other notable dignitaries.
InfoStride News had reported that the governor recently postponed his formal defection to the APC—earlier slated for Wednesday, November 19, 2025—following the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
Addressing attendees, Kefas stressed that his political decision was rooted in the welfare and advancement of Taraba people.
“This is an event where all Margi nations come together to look at where they are coming from, where they are, and where they will be going,” he said.
“This is not a political gathering. Governor Ahmadu Fintiri is a true Margi son. He is a unifying factor, and I have enjoyed our neighbourhood and brotherhood.
“The only reason why we have disagreements is because I decided to move to the All Progressives Congress.
But I know that at the end of the day, he will reason with me that my decision is in the interest of my people. I wish you all the best.”
