Yahaya Ododo, a former military officer, has been critical of Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, claiming that Bello’s administration has let the state’s residents down.
Recently defecting from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Action Alliance (AA) in Ankpa, Ododo has been a vocal proponent of a change in leadership in the state.
The former APC chieftain, who has now migrated to AA under the cover of the Ankpa Forum of Political Unity, has said that he decided to leave the party because he wanted to see justice, fairness, and equity enshrined in the State’s history of governors.

He claimed the current administration stumbled into Lugard House and argued that Kogi West should be responsible for electing the next Governor of the State.
Ododo added, “I have been in the politics of Kogi State for a long time, and I am proud to support the AA’s governorship candidate, Otunba Olayinka Braimoh. Chief Olushola Akanmode was the former deputy chief of staff to the president, and Chief Bayo Ojo was the former minister for justice and Attorney General of the Federation. We are prepared to work for the AA governorship candidate in the upcoming election.
Samuel Omale, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) veteran in Ojoku Ward, under Ankpa Local Government Area, who recently joined AA with his supporters, also spoke, and he tasked the new members with going to the far reaches of the local government to canvass support for the party.
In response, Braimoh addressed the newcomers and his supporters at the defection ceremony that he is on a mission to lift the people of Kogi State out of poverty.
He campaigned for more votes from the Ankpa population.
