The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has urged party members to prioritise unity and collective effort as the party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
Kwankwaso made the call on Tuesday during an interactive session with NNPP stakeholders in Cross River State, where members gathered to strategise on how to strengthen the party’s structures and improve its electoral chances.
The former Kano State governor, who expressed confidence in the NNPP leadership, applauded members for their role in the 2023 elections.

“Let me thank you for what you did during the last election in 2023. I urge you to work harder so that, by the grace of God, our party, the NNPP, will win elections in Cross River and across Nigeria,” Kwankwaso said.
He further encouraged members to consolidate on recent progress, citing the establishment of a new state office in Calabar and the party’s growing presence across several local government areas in Cross River State.
Kwankwaso stressed that internal cohesion was vital to positioning the NNPP as a credible alternative in 2027.
Meanwhile, speculation continues to trail Kwankwaso’s political future, with claims suggesting he may consider aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the elections.
His long-time associate, Abdulmumin Jibrin, who represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, recently hinted that the possibility of Kwankwaso working with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had not been ruled out.
“The doors are not closed yet for Kwankwaso’s possible move to the APC,” Jibrin noted.
The NNPP leader, however, has yet to comment directly on the defection rumours, instead focusing his message on unity, discipline, and grassroots mobilisation as key to the NNPP’s electoral success.
