A new Consolidated Health Salary Structure, CONHESS, and allowances for Kwara State Government-employed nurses and midwives have been approved.
On Friday in Ilorin, the state capital, a letter of thanks to Governor Abdul Rahman Abdulrazaq was made available to newsmen.
According to Infostride News, the group has given the state government 21 days to respond to their demands or face the possibility of an industrial strike.
Among the demands was a better benefits package for the union’s members and more jobs for nurses at the state-run hospitals.
After the requests were met, the association withdrew its threat before the deadline.
With the approval of the new CONHESS scale and allowances for nurses and midwives, the association’s chairman and secretary, Comrade Shehu Aminu and Comrade Markus, wrote a letter of appreciation to the governor, stating that this would greatly improve healthcare delivery and decrease the brain drain that has plagued the sector.
As Secretary of the state Hospital Management Board and Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole played a crucial part in realizing the demands, and the organization expressed gratitude to her.
