The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has scheduled its councilorship and chairmanship primary elections for June 26-27, 2024, in preparation for the upcoming local council elections.
In a statement issued in Ilorin, party spokesman Olusegun Olusola Adewara confirmed the dates and outlined the procedures for selecting candidates across the 16 local government areas of the state.
“The party will adopt primary elections and or ratifications where applicable to determine its candidates,” Adewara stated.

“This is in furtherance of our party’s commitment to true democracy where people’s rights to aspire to serve are strictly protected.”
The PDP has also set the fees for nomination forms for the elections scheduled for September 21, 2024.
Chairmanship aspirants will pay a total of N100,000, comprising N20,000 for the expression of interest form and N80,000 for the nomination form.
Councilorship aspirants will pay a total of N25,000, with the expression of interest form costing N5,000 and the nomination form N20,000.
“The sale of forms for those interested in chairmanship and councilorship seats will commence on June 22, 2024, and will close on June 25, 2024.
By implication, all forms collected by aspirants must be filled and returned to the state office no later than Tuesday, June 25, 2024,” Adewara added.
In an effort to promote inclusivity, the PDP announced that female and physically challenged aspirants would pay 50% of the standard rates for the nomination and expression of interest forms.
“This measure aims to encourage gender inclusions and deepen the inclusion of various strata of our society in the PDP’s programme for these elections,” the statement concluded.
