The Labour Party (LP) has addressed growing speculation regarding the possibility of its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, returning to the party.
Speaking at a meeting of the Usman-led National Working Committee (NWC) on Tuesday, the party’s National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, described Obi as “a man of principle,” noting that his departure from the Labour Party to another political platform was a decision taken after careful consideration.

“For him to have left the Labour Party, I don’t see him as somebody that will come back again. He’s quite principled,” Nwokocha said, adding that the party has already wished Obi well in his new political journey.
He further stated that the Labour Party currently has a competent and capable national leadership, stressing that integrity remains a core value of the party.
Nwokocha also commended Obi for maintaining his integrity, emphasizing that “integrity matters in everything we do.”
According to him, discussions about Obi’s possible return should be set aside in light of the party’s present leadership strength and ongoing political engagements.
