The Labour Party (LP) state executives in Adamawa have rejected a vote of no confidence passed on them by 18 out of 21 local government chairmen of the party.
The local chairmen had accused the state chairman, Christopher Nicholas, of incompetence and announced his removal, along with other members of the state executive committee (EXCO).
Following the vote, the local chairmen had formed a state caretaker committee to replace the Nicholas-led EXCO.

However, members of the Nicholas-led EXCO gathered at the Labour Party state secretariat in Yola on Friday, asserting that their removal was illegitimate.
Nicholas dismissed the vote of no confidence, labeling the group that announced his removal as a faction aimed at causing discord within the party.
He emphasized that the party has established procedures for addressing such issues, which were not followed in this case.
“At no time did anybody write or officially raise an eyebrow against anyone in the leadership. We have a mechanism for raising issues and it has not been done,” Nicholas stated.
