Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State staged a protest on Monday at the Lagos State House of Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja, demanding the immediate removal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi.
The protesters, said to be drawn from the 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) across the state, gathered in their numbers at the Assembly premises, carrying placards with bold inscriptions such as “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Demand New Leadership.”
Chanting slogans and calling for internal party reforms, the demonstrators expressed frustration with what they described as the party’s “stagnant and disconnected” leadership under Ojelabi. They accused him of failing to effectively engage with grassroots members and weakening party structures across the state.

According to some protest leaders, the call for Ojelabi’s removal is necessary ahead of the next political cycle to reposition the Lagos APC for electoral success.
“We cannot go into future elections with a structure that is weak and leadership that is disconnected from the people,” one protester said. “The voice of the grassroots must be heard, and the leadership must reflect the will of the people.”
Security was tight at the Assembly complex, with a heavy presence of police officers deployed to maintain law and order. The protest remained peaceful, and no incidents of violence or arrests were reported as of press time.
Despite the growing agitation, neither the Lagos State APC leadership nor the State House of Assembly has issued an official statement in response to the protest.
The development marks a significant sign of internal discontent within the party, which has long dominated the state’s political landscape.
