A Lagos State High Court has sentenced one Olukeye Adedayo Olalekan to a cumulative 76 years in prison after convicting him on multiple charges, including child pornography, cyberstalking, money laundering, and fraud.
Olalekan was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 18-count charge. His conviction followed the presentation of conclusive evidence by the anti-graft agency.
Delivering judgment on Thursday, Justice Alexander Owoeye ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt, affirming that the defendant engaged in the criminal acts as alleged.
According to the EFCC, Olalekan operated under several aliases—hrm87, charlotte708, and harlilott_716—and exploited the Instagram platform by creating a group titled “Expose Janjua Robin Nudes” to distribute explicit materials involving minors.
One of the charges stated that on February 13, 2023, within Lagos jurisdiction, Olalekan intentionally used Instagram to circulate child pornography, thereby violating provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015.
Justice Owoeye found Olalekan guilty on all 18 counts and imposed the following sentences:
- Two years imprisonment each on counts one to four, relating to the procurement and distribution of child pornography and cyberstalking;
- Four years imprisonment each on counts five to fourteen, involving the retention and concealment of proceeds of fraud, without the option of a fine;
- Seven years imprisonment each on counts fifteen to eighteen, bordering on obtaining property under false pretences, also without the option of a fine.
The sentences are to run concurrently, meaning Olalekan will serve a maximum of seven years in prison.
