Judgment on the cases submitted by political parties in opposition to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s reelection will be handed down today, Monday, by the Lagos State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.
InfoStride News reminds readers that petitions were submitted to the court by the Labour Party and its governorship candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor.
Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared the victor of the gubernatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, due to receiving the most votes.

The Governor, running for a second term, handily defeated Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, who finished in second place.
Rhodes-Vivour came in second with 312,329 votes to Sanwo-Olu’s 762,134, and Jide Adediran (Jandor) of the PDP came in third with 62,449 votes.
The LP, the PDP, and their respective candidates were dissatisfied with the results of the election and petitioned the court to have the results overturned on the grounds that the poll was tainted by irregularities.
The Labour Party claims that as a result of widespread violence across the state, thousands of voters were denied their right to vote.
They said the ruling party engaged in overvoting and vote suppression, among other electoral malpractices.
On August 12, attorneys participating in the petitions submitted their final briefs to the tribunal.
Therefore, the panel led by Justice Arum Ashom announced over the weekend that the verdict would be issued on Monday.
