Infostride News reports that the Lagos State Government has recently declared a temporary closure of the Adekunle Ramp, connecting the Third Mainland Bridge and Ebute Meta in both inbound and outbound directions. This measure, effective from Sunday, November 19, until Friday, December 8, 2023, is part of a strategic plan to expedite the ongoing construction works in this area, with an ambitious target of completing the project within a record-breaking period of 5 weeks.
In an official statement released by Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State, it was emphasized that the specific timeline of 5 weeks has been allocated for the Adekunle Ramp construction project. Osiyemi explained, “Following the level of the construction works ongoing on Adekunle Ramp and in order to complete it in record time of Five Weeks, the entire traffic inward and outward of the ramp will be closed to traffic from Sunday, 19th November till 8th December 2023, (the completion period of five weeks earmarked for the project).’’
During this temporary closure, alternative routes have been designated for motorists to minimize inconvenience. These alternative routes include:

1. For motorists traveling from Lagos Island to Ebute Metta: Utilize Ilubirin to connect Carter Bridge (Idumota Bridge) to link Iddo towards Otto/Oyingbo axis, subsequently accessing Herbert Macaulay Way to connect to their intended destinations.
2. For motorists departing from Victoria Island: Navigate through Bonny Camp to Onikan Marina Bridge, then Apongbon to connect Eko Bridge. Continue via Costain, Apapa Road, Railway Compound to link Alagomeji, Glover Road, and access Apena Junction. Finally, use Herbert Macaulay Way to connect to their desired destinations.
3. Motorists intending to travel from Lagos-Ibadan through Adekunle to Ebute-Metta are advised to utilize Ikorodu Road, passing through Ojota, Anthony, Onipanu, Fadeyi, and Jibowu to access Herbert Macaulay Way for their onward journeys.
4. For motorists originating from Gbagada: Access Anthony Interchange to link Ikorodu Road inwards Jibowu, then connect Herbert Macaulay Way to reach their destinations.
5. Motorists on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway aiming to reach Ebute-Metta are recommended to use Oshodi Bridge, transition to Town Planning Way, then Ikorodu Road to reach their respective destinations.
It is essential to note that the Third Mainland Bridge remains fully operational during this period, with only the Adekunle Ramp being affected by the temporary closure. Osiyemi reassured the public that adequate traffic and security personnel are stationed at construction zones and various alternative routes to ensure a smooth flow of traffic. Motorists are urged to cooperate with authorities, exercise patience, and adhere to safety measures during the palliative works.
As Infostride News continues to monitor and report on developments, commuters are advised to stay informed about the temporary changes in traffic patterns and plan their journeys accordingly.
