Hon. Akor Prince Nna, the lawmaker representing the ward of former Governor Nyesom Wike in Obio/Akpor Local Government in the Rivers State House of Assembly, has announced his resignation.
He declared his support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara in the ongoing power tussle in the state and stepped down from his position as Leader of the House in the Legislative Council.
In a letter dated March 6 addressed to the Executive Chairman, Obio/Akpor Legislative Council, Rumu Odomaya, Rivers State, Hon. Nna expressed his gratitude to the people of Ward 9 and Obio/Akpor Local Government for the opportunity to serve.
He also thanked Chief Bar E. N. Wike for the chance to represent him as a councilor before becoming the Leader of the Legislative Council.
Hon. Nna cited personal conviction and the desire to align with the truth amid current political issues in Rivers State as reasons for his resignation.
The honourable mentioned experiencing intimidation, marginalization, coercion, bullying, and arm-twisting from some leaders of Obio/Akpor Local Government.
Quoting Senator Dino Melaye, Hon. Nna emphasized the importance of speaking the truth. He expressed his alignment with progressive minds to liberate and develop Rivers State in line with the SIMplified Movement.
He also affirmed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s RENEWED HOPE agenda.
Hon. Nna reassured his commitment to supporting the state government and working towards peace, development, and empowerment for the people of Rivers State.
He concluded by thanking the leadership and people of Ward 9, and expressing his blessings for the people of Ward 9, Obio/Akpor, and the Peoples Democratic Party.
