The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its member nations have congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on becoming the leader of Nigeria.
During the opening ceremony of the 63rd Ordinary Session of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, which is taking place in Guinea-Bissau, they expressed their congratulations.
President of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, praised Nigeria in his opening remarks for sustaining peace and advancing democracy in the West African area.

He claims that the military coups that took place in Mali, the Republic of Guinea, and Burkina Faso, as well as the extension of the transition period that followed, marked a retreat from the principles of democratic rule of law that the member states had adopted through the supplementary protocol on democracy and good governance.
He insisted that for political stability, the advancement of the democratic rule of law, and the welfare of the people in the West African sub-region, democracy must be restored in the three nations.
In order to combat terrorism and hasten the region’s economic progress, Umaro Embaló emphasized the necessity for member countries to think of additional ways to mobilize financial resources from each member state alongside strategic partners.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been congratulated on his victory and inauguration as the president of Nigeria, the continent of Africa’s largest economy, by Omar Alieu Touray, the president of the ECOWAS Commission.
Omar thanked President Umaro Embaló for his role as ECOWAS chair over the previous 12 months, noting that the group has made a number of accomplishments that will be highlighted at a later meeting.
He also expressed his congratulations to Julius Maada Bio, the president of Sierra Leone, on his reelection.
The heads of state of the member nations have been ranked as attending the 63rd session, which is still going on.
