The latest Galactico at the Bernabeu could be Robert Lewandowski; Real Madrid have already come to a private agreement with the Bayern Munich star, writes Spanish journalist Guillem Balague for AS.
The report says the Poland international’s agent Cezary Kucharski made the trip with his client to Madrid for Bayern’s Champions League semifinal against Atletico and met with Real Madrid director Jose Angel Sanchez.
The Bundesliga champions are in no rush to even entertain a sale, or for that matter a contract extension, as Lewandowski’s current deal runs to 2019 and the player is seeking an astronomical wages of almost £300,000-per-week.
Any prospect of a deal seems remote as most of Bayern’s options of a replacement are either not available for transfer or valued at close to £80m; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gonzalo Higuain, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Diego Costa and Romelu Lukaku are the only feasible options of the same class as their current No. 9.
