Lil Wayne stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert in NYC to serve as the musical guest for Wednesday night’s (Dec. 12) episode.
Weezy performed Tha Carter V standout “Don’t Cry,” which posthumously features the late XXXTentacion, backed by DJ T.Lewis and another instrumentalist handling percussion duties.
The New Orleans native made sure he was prepared for the chilly December weather gracing the Big Apple, hitting the stage in an oversized fur coat and a knitted winter hat to hold his signature dreads in place. Weezy has made a habit of daring fashion choices throughout his career, choosing last night to go with a pair of Nike platform shoes that probably made him taller than the average American male for the night.
The 36-year-old went on to reiterate his DJ’s sentiment from earlier in the performance, where he dedicated “Don’t Cry” to those that had lost a loved one at some point in life.
“If you lost somebody, and you celebrating life tonight, then just put two fingers in the air,” Wayne told the audience shortly before wrapping things up.
