Dr. Salihu Lukman, a former National Vice Chairman, North-West, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has leveled accusations against the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, alleging manipulative politics in the dissolution of Rivers State executives across all levels.
Last week, the APC’s NWC announced the dissolution of the Rivers State Executives and appointed a seven-member Caretaker Committee, headed by Chief Tony Okocha, to oversee the party’s affairs in the state for the next six months.
In a statement titled ‘End of Progressive Politics,’ Lukman accused President Bola Tinubu and the National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, of fostering “Garrison Politics” within the party.

Lukman claimed this move by the NWC was laying the groundwork for the emergence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as the new leader of the party.
Lukman highlighted Okocha’s alleged political alignment with Wike, citing a visit where Wike’s loyalists, led by Okocha, accused Rotimi Amaechi of working against Tinubu in the last election.
Lukman expressed concern over the dissolution of party structures, suggesting it would pave the way for Wike’s supporters to assume leadership roles in APC in Rivers State.
Questioning Tinubu’s role, Lukman pondered whether Tinubu supported the removal of Senator Abdulahi Adamu as party chairman, only to install Ganduje, who he believes would not oppose Tinubu’s wishes.
Lukman concluded, “With such reality, it simply means the structures of APC in FCT will also be dissolved to produce new APC leaders at all levels of the party who will be loyal to Barr.Wike.
And any state where APC is led by people who might have opposed President Asiwaju Tinubu will similarly be dissolved.”
