Muhammadu Sanusi II has resumed his role as the 16th Fulani Emir of Kano, receiving royal greetings from his supporters.
This development comes despite a joint security agency in Kano State declaring their commitment to upholding a court order that prohibits the monarch’s reinstatement.
Sanusi, emerging from the Emir’s inner palace to the outer palace where Emirs traditionally receive their subjects and conduct court sittings, was met with cheers from hundreds of supporters as he majestically rode a horse.

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, told newsmen that their position on the reinstatement of Sanusi was legally sound and unchangeable.
“The so-called court order banning them from reinstating Sanusi was not officially submitted to them, and at the time they did the reinstatement, it was after working hours, which shows that anything coming from the court on that matter is already late,” Gwarzo stated.
