Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dissociated himself from the decision by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose; the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; and other senior party figures.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his spokesperson, Gyang Bere, the governor said the matter was never discussed at the PDP Governors’ Forum nor at the National Executive Committee, NEC, before the motion was introduced during the party’s ongoing national convention in Ibadan.

“The Executive Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has formally distanced himself from the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike; former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; Samuel Anyanwu alongside other leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP),” the statement read.
Mutfwang noted that the expulsion move did not reflect his position, especially as the subject was not deliberated upon by the Governors’ Forum or the party’s NEC.
According to him, removing key party stakeholders at a time when the PDP is grappling with internal challenges is not a strategic solution.
He emphasised the need for unity, dialogue and collective efforts to reposition the party.
“Governor Mutfwang believes the party should prioritise reconciliation, team spirit and inclusive engagement to address its internal issues effectively,” the statement added.
