Paris Saint-Germain striker, Edinson Cavani has come out to confirm that there was really a heated exchange with Lionel Messi during Uruguay’s 2-2 friendly draw with Argentina.
With Uruguay leading, Lionel reacted angrily to a foul from feisty midfielder, Matias Vecino during the match,
During the brief confrontation from both players, reports said Cavani asked Messi if he wanted to fight and the Argentine responded, “Whenever you want, whenever you want.”
They were eventually got separated by Luis Suarez and Cavani has now confirmed that there was a confrontation but it is expected in football.
His words, “Yes, that’s football,”
“That’s what the Clasico matches [between Argentina and Uruguay] are like. That’s football.”
Argentina later equalised via a Sergio Aguero header, but were pegged back minutes later by a Luis Suarez’s free-kick.
Messi later had the last laugh when he converted a stoppage-time penalty to seal the draw.
