In a recent development, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a 24-hour ultimatum to Farouk Adejoh, the spokesperson of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State, to provide further details regarding his claims implicating Commissioner of Police Bethrand Onuoha in recruiting thugs for a specific political party in the state.
SP William Ovye Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, strongly condemned Adejoh’s statement, considering it a direct challenge to the integrity and authority of the Nigerian Police Force.
Aya emphasized that Adejoh must substantiate his allegations against the State Police Command and the Commissioner of Police within the stipulated timeframe or face consequences.

Highlighting the apolitical nature of the Police Command, Aya stated, “The Police Command doesn’t belong to any political party.
Our responsibility is to protect lives and property, a mandate we have upheld without bias.
The recent incident at the State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prompted a swift response from the Commissioner of Police to restore normalcy, ensuring the safety of citizens and INEC property.”
Aya expressed bewilderment at the SDP’s reaction, citing the restoration of peace during the INEC incident.
He clarified, “The protesters who blocked the road and engaged in disruptive activities were identified as wearing the fez caps of the Social Democratic Party.”
The statement concluded by informing that the Kogi State Commissioner of Police has impartially ordered a thorough investigation into the allegations raised by the SDP spokesperson.
The aim is to quash any attempts by politicians to involve the Police Force in partisan disputes.
