The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops have neutralised more than 80 terrorists and rescued 34 kidnap victims in coordinated military operations carried out across several parts of the country.
The operations, conducted over recent days, were aimed at dismantling terrorist cells, bandit groups, and other criminal networks responsible for violence, kidnappings, and attacks on communities. According to military authorities, the successes were recorded through a combination of ground offensives, intelligence-led raids, and aerial support.

Troops engaged terrorists in multiple theatres, particularly in areas affected by insurgency and banditry. During these encounters, several terrorists were neutralised following intense firefights, while others were forced to flee after their camps and logistics routes were destroyed. The Army said the operations significantly disrupted the ability of the groups to plan and carry out attacks.
In addition to combat operations, soldiers carried out targeted rescue missions that led to the release of 34 kidnapped victims, including women and children. The victims were rescued from remote locations where they had been held by their captors, some of whom were neutralised during the operations. Others reportedly abandoned their captives while fleeing under military pressure.
Military sources said the rescued victims have since been reunited with their families or handed over to relevant authorities for medical care and rehabilitation. Some of the victims were said to have spent weeks in captivity under harsh conditions before their rescue.
The operations also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, and other materials used by the terrorists. Items recovered included firearms, improvised explosive device components, motorcycles, communication equipment, and stolen livestock. These recoveries, the Army said, further weakened the operational capacity of the criminal groups.
The Nigerian Army described the achievements as part of its ongoing commitment to restoring peace and security across the country. It noted that troops remain deployed in various flashpoints and are maintaining sustained pressure on terrorist and criminal elements to prevent regrouping.
Military authorities commended the professionalism and bravery of the troops involved, adding that intelligence support from local communities played a key role in the success of several operations. The Army again urged citizens to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in the fight against insecurity.
The Army also reassured Nigerians that it would continue to adapt its strategies to address evolving security threats. According to the statement, efforts are being intensified to protect vulnerable communities, secure major routes, and prevent attacks on civilian populations.
Residents in affected areas have expressed relief following the operations, with some communities reporting improved security and a reduction in criminal activity. Community leaders also welcomed the rescue of kidnapped victims, describing it as a boost to morale and confidence in the military.
Despite the recent gains, the Army acknowledged that security challenges persist in some regions. It reaffirmed its resolve to sustain operations until lasting peace is achieved, working alongside other security agencies and stakeholders.
The Nigerian Army concluded by assuring the public that it remains fully committed to safeguarding lives and property and will continue to confront all threats to national security with determination and professionalism.
