NNPP Blames Kwankwaso For Kano Governor’s Removal, Alleges Irregularities

The National Secretary of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Olaposi Oginni, has pointed the finger at the party’s presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, for the removal of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano by the election tribunal and the Appeal Court.

Despite Yusuf’s initial victory in the March 18 governorship election, the APC is poised to take over the seat pending a Supreme Court decision.

Oginni accused Kwankwaso of irregularities and electoral malpractices, attributing the Kano governor’s predicament to the former presidential candidate’s alleged greediness and insatiable quest for power.

In a statement, Oginni argued that the lack of internal democracy, purportedly engineered by Kwankwaso, led to the party’s setbacks.

He claimed that names of individuals who didn’t participate in the party’s primaries were uploaded as candidates on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) portal.

Oginni stated, “It is unfortunate that this avoidable embarrassment of the removal of Kano State Governor was as a result of unholy activities in the Maitama house of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.”

He alleged that Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya group took over the NNPP structure at all levels, ordering the loading of candidate names with or without primaries.

The NNPP Secretary pointed out an instance in Ogun State where Kwankwaso allegedly replaced the primary participant, Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, with Jobi Fayoyin.

Oginni emphasized the need for Kwankwaso and Governor Yusuf to openly apologize to the NNPP founder, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, before the Supreme Court’s final judgment.

He suggested that recognizing Aniebonam as the founder and spiritual head of the NNPP could mitigate the party’s challenges.

In conclusion, Oginni stated, “I strongly believe it is not over until it’s over.”
