The North Central APC Elders Forum has hailed the recent dissolution of the Benue State leadership and the establishment of a new Caretaker Committee as a pivotal move towards restoring peace and stability within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and governance in Benue State.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC, led by its National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, took decisive action last Wednesday, dissolving the Augustine Agada-led executive, despite a restraining order from a Benue State High Court.
The national leadership not only dissolved the State Working Committee but also swiftly constituted a seven-member Caretaker Committee at the party’s National Secretariat.

This new committee, inaugurated by Ganduje, is expected to steer the party’s affairs in Benue for the next six months.
The move is seen as a critical step in addressing the internal conflicts that had plagued the party’s operations in the state, thereby allowing for a more harmonious governance landscape.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Chairman of the North Central APC Elders Forum and former President of the Senate, Senator Ameh Ebute, expressed strong support for the NWC’s actions.
He also commended the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who played a significant role in mediating the situation and ensuring that the interests of the APC in the North Central region were adequately represented and protected.
Senator Ebute highlighted Governor Sule’s recent courtesy visit to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje in Abuja as a commendable and strategic intervention.
This visit was aimed at discussing the broader interests of the North Central Geo-political Zone and ensuring that the voices of party elders from the region were heard and respected at the national level.
The forum emphasised that such proactive engagements are essential for strengthening the party’s position and performance in the region.
“We are pleased that Governor Sule is taking the lead in realigning the North Central Geo-political Zone to reposition the APC for optimal performance,” the forum stated.
“His engagement with the national leadership of the party underscores the importance of collaboration and strategic dialogue in resolving internal disputes and advancing the collective goals of the party.”
The North Central APC Elders Forum also praised the Ganduje-led NWC for its initiative to establish the National Progressives Institute, which aims to be a centre of excellence for party ideology, policy formulation, and leadership training.
The Forum has urged the NWC to ensure that the North Central zone is represented in the leadership of this new institute, reflecting the region’s significant contribution to the party’s national framework.
The dissolution of the Benue State leadership and the appointment of a Caretaker Committee have been viewed as necessary steps to mend the factional rifts that had weakened the party’s structure and hampered its effectiveness.
By resetting the leadership dynamics, the party hopes to create a more united front capable of delivering on its promises to the people of Benue State.
The intervention of Governor Abdullahi Sule was particularly lauded for its emphasis on unity and strategic planning.
His actions reflect a broader vision for the APC in the North Central region, aiming not only to resolve immediate conflicts but also to lay the groundwork for sustained success in future elections.
The forum noted that Governor Sule’s diplomatic approach sets a positive example for other leaders in the region, demonstrating that collaborative problem-solving can lead to significant achievements.
Moreover, the North Central APC Elders Forum reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance party cohesion and governance across the region.
They stressed the importance of maintaining an inclusive approach, ensuring that all voices within the party are heard and that decisions are made in the best interest of the wider community.
As the new Caretaker Committee begins its mandate, it is expected to focus on unifying the party’s factions, fostering stronger community ties, and preparing for the upcoming electoral challenges.
The Forum has called on all party members in Benue State to rally behind the new leadership, set aside past grievances, and work collectively towards the common goal of good governance and political stability.
In conclusion, the North Central APC Elders Forum’s endorsement of the recent changes in Benue State underscores a broader commitment to restoring order and promoting unity within the party.
By addressing the underlying issues that led to the leadership crisis, the APC aims to strengthen its position not only in Benue but across the North Central region, setting the stage for a more effective and cohesive political future.
