The North Central All Progressives Congress, APC, Forum has challenged the legality of Abdullahi Ganduje’s position as the National Chairman of the party, claiming it to be illegal.
The forum has filed a suit before a Federal High Court in Abuja to contest Ganduje’s appointment.
In the suit, the North Central APC Forum named Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as defendants.

The forum alleges that Ganduje’s appointment did not comply with the party’s constitution and that the position should have remained in the North Central region.
The forum’s counsel, Ayuba Abdul, stated that the party could face legal and unwanted liabilities, including the Edo and Ondo State primary elections conducted under Ganduje’s leadership.
The forum is seeking the court to set aside Ganduje’s appointment and compel the party to conduct a fresh convention for the election of a National Chairman or appoint another National Chairman from Nasarawa State in the North Central Geo-political zone.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Saleh Zazzaga, the Chairman, emphasized that their action is for fairness and justice, as they have repeatedly called on the party to address the issue to no avail.
He expressed concern that Ganduje’s occupancy of the National Chairmanship position could lead to uncertainty and is not beneficial for the party.
The North Central APC Forum aims to avoid infighting and ensure the progress of the APC. They believe that resolving the issue promptly will prevent any advantage for their opponents and maintain the party’s integrity.
