Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would gladly welcome former Governor of the state, Chief James Ibori, into its fold.
Governor Oborevwori, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, made the comment during a vigil mass held in honour of the late former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Prof. Amos Utuama.
InfoStride News reports that the vigil mass was held on Wednesday at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Otu-Jeremi, in Ughelli South Local Government Area of the state.

Addressing the congregation, Oborevwori emphasized the importance of unity among the Urhobo political class and praised the late Utuama for his selfless contributions to the church and society.
“I am very happy to be here today, seeing this large gathering for one man. The preaching today is not about the dead, it is about the living,” the governor said.
He recounted Utuama’s notable acts of generosity, including donating land allocated to him in Asaba during his tenure as deputy governor to the Catholic Church and contributing to the construction of the church. “To me, that is a kingdom investment,” Oborevwori remarked.
He expressed hope that the passing of the late professor would serve as a unifying moment for Ughelli South and the entire Urhobo ethnic group.
In his sermon, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido, affirmed that Prof. Utuama lived a life of impact both in the church and in society. He urged the bereaved family to uphold the virtues of godliness, humility, charity, and selflessness exemplified by their late father.
Describing the death of a Christian as a transition to eternal glory, the bishop called on all to accept Christ while alive to secure life after death. He also appealed for sustained unity among political leaders to foster peace and development in Delta State.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Ovie Utuama expressed gratitude to all who showed support and requested continued prayers for the family during their time of mourning.
